McCormick Introduces V8.0 At NECA Show

With a great booth position at The NECA Show in Los Angeles, McCormick Systems rolled out the newest -- and greatest -- version of our software, V8.0. If you've not yet received the details, see our August newsletter. Below, find a short press release we've sent to media outlets:

V8.0 Is McCormick’s Latest – Users Say It’s The Greatest!

McCormick Systems officially released Version 8.0 of its software at the NECA Show to the enthusiastic welcome of its customers. Why?

“There are more than 60 changes and advances in V8.0,” said Todd McCormick, president. “There is enhanced user flexibility. We now offer users more options to ‘customize’ our software – to ‘have it your way,’ as those hamburger people say.

“Our company this year is celebrating its 25th anniversary and, in a very definitive way, V8.0 is the direction we’ve been heading all this time. It offers more productivity-boosting advantages than those not using our software could imagine.”

Privately owned McCormick Systems (www.mccormicksys.com), of Chandler, Ariz., the nation’s leader in estimating software, provides high-productivity software for contractors to use in producing consistent, profitable estimates for electrical and voice-data-video work. Construction '05 Forecasts

The forecast for 2005: Mostly sunny!

Residential construction -- housing is thought to fall just a bit, 4.5% to be specific, in the opinion of the National Association of Home Builders. That projection is anything but glum, however, as it would make next year one of the best in the past 27 in residential new construction.

NAHB's 2004 Estimate & 2005-2006 Forecast

  2002 2003 2004 2005 2006
Total Starts (000) 1710 1853 1935 1853 1800

New Single-Family Home Sales (000) 976 1089 1173 1103 1073
Existing Home Sales (000) 5593 6098 6551 6421 6079
Interest Rates (Freddie Mac Commitment
Fixed-rate 6.5% 5.8% 5.9% 6.4% 7.0%
ARMs 4.6% 3.8% 3.9% 5.1% 6.0%
Prime Rate 4.7% 4.1% 4.3% 5.7% 6.9%

Nonresidential -- McGraw-Hill Construction estimates total contracting for new construction will increase 2% in 2005, while single-family housing slips by 3% -- in dollars. What that adds up to is a 5.9% gain in nonresidential construction. The most significant gains forecast are for "income properties" (up 9%, to almost $120 billion) and institutional buildings (up 7%, to more than $97 billion).

The "income properties" category consists of office buildings (projected to rise 12% in dollars), hotels (up 15%), and retail stores (up 2%). Educational buildings (up 8%) and healthcare facilities (up 6%) drive the institutional category.

Regional breakdown -- McGraw-Hill's forecast breaks the country into five regions. The leader in the 2005 projects is the North Central area, with a gain of 4%. States in that area are: IL, IN, IA, KS, MI, MN, MO, NE, ND, OH, SD, WI; together, they are projected to see almost $120 billion in 2005 construction.

The largest single region is the West, with $151 billion (projected to gain 1% in 2005). States: AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, NV, NM, OR, UT, WA, WY.

The Northeast is seen rising 3%; the South Central rising 2%; and the South Atlantic region is projected to be flat with 2004.
