It's Early
This Year -- March 8-11
There's no better investment in
electrical contracting productivity than McCormick Systems
estimating software. But veteran customers go one step
further: They come to the company's annual User's
Conference.
This year's U.C. will be held
March 8-11 in Tempe, AZ. Attendees can be sure of one thing --
they'll go home with knowledge of major developments in their
software, methods to speed their estimating, and short-cuts,
tips, and hints (from McCormick staff and other contractors,
estimators, and project managers in attendance).
To those new to the
conference: This isn't a pleasure cruise --
our meetings run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:15 on each of the two
full days of the conference. The event includes a full morning
of Lab Time on Saturday, which is getaway day for most
attendees. And there are two pre-conference training sessions
scheduled (see info below).
To "Desert Dogs" and
other regular attendees: The dates this year are more
than one month earlier than in 2005. Be sure to
register soon!

Two Major Topics
Our User's Conference will
include the whole gamut of information -- and a session in
which attendees help us plan the future of McCormick's
software. But there are two major items on the agenda (which
you'll find on page 5 of the PDF you can obtain above):
1. McCormick's line of ABS
(Automated Building Systems) estimating software. If you
missed our introduction of this new line, see the October
2005 newsletter.
2. Version 8.2 of our WIN 3000,
6000, 8000 & 12000 software.
Version 8.2 offers various
improvements on our standard software. Here is a selected (but
by-no-means comprehensive) list of the improvements and
enhancements we've built into V8.2:
- A new notes check box has been added to the Advanced
Audit trail. You can now view or not view notes in any of
the audit trail filters including All Current Labels. When
the Audit trail is printed, the notes will print as shown.
- An Assembly & By Products report has been added to
the advanced Audit Trail. If you select one of the two new
filters, Assm Total Perm, or Assem total Job, a report is
displayed showing each assembly taken off and the
byproducts that make up each assembly with quantities and
constants.
- A New Maintenance tab has been added to the DataBase
Reports screen. These reports are designed to help verify
information in your database including the last time an
Items price was updated and what assemblies a particular
item is a byproduct of.
- The Assembly ByProduct report, “Assemblies using a
specific item”, has the option to send data to an Edit
Table allowing you to edit a customized list of assemblies
to quickly switch out an item you no longer use or have
replaced no matter where in the assembly database this
item is located.
- Added popup warning in Audit Trail that making changes
or deleting takeoff while summarized is not allowed.
- Added new "Totals" extension report type. This is the
same report as the standard report types just without the
line item details. It will group and total sections based
on label breakout and report breakout.
Also on our agenda:
A review of the features of Extension.
How Bid Summary brings it all together.
How else to use your estimate (by exporting
it).
Using McCormick for Project Management.
. . and much more.
Each day features dedicated time
for attendees in the on-site computer laboratory. This "lab
time" is key for users who want to try out what they've
learned in the previous sessions. Additionally, many users
bring questions with them. At the U.C., they can get those
questions answered by McCormick Systems staff -- with
personal, hands-on demos right in the Lab! |
