What's On Tap For The User's Conference McCormick's annual User's Conference, to be held April 13-16, is already shaping up to be the best attended in years. One indicator: Demand for pre-conference training is so heavy that we've already had to schedule an additional "advanced estimating" class, as we filled the first section. There's also a "standard" class set for April 11-12. Our conference includes a focus on items you already have on your system AND a detailed "tour" of the capabilities added in our new Version 8.0.
Our conference program is still firming up, but it will include:
Discussions of networking, Remote Take-Off, Change Order tracking, T-bill, CAD Estimating, and more are also set. There's still room for you and your people at the McCormick Systems User's Conference. Call 1-800-444-4890 for more information! More info online:
After nine years marketing McCormick software products, Mike has made the decision to “hang up” his computer. Reflecting on Mike’s decision, Jack McCormick, CEO of McCormick, indicated that "Mike was a friend’s friend when it came to sales. He remembered who you were, what you liked, became a close friend of you and your company, and provided what was needed." In addition to working for McCormick, Mike was a close friend of all that worked there. When not on the road for McCormick, Mike and others could be found rock climbing, bicycle touring, road racing, or popping a cold one. And Mike always has a story to tell! Mike will be missed at McCormick however he will be still around. So…. don’t be surprised if at your next convention, wherever it might be, Mike just might be there to shoot the bull and talk to his long time friends. Thank you Mike for the help and support over the past period of years.
Eastern Training Class To Be Held April 27-29 As is our custom, upcoming dates for Arizona & Maryland are listed near the bottom of this newsletter page. However, we did want to call your attention to training opportunities in Maryland -- a "standard estimating" class to be held April 27-29. Contact us (1-800-444-4890) for more information! Version 8.0 Is Ready For Launch! Those attending the User's Conference will get the benefit of learning all about Version 8.0 of McCormick Systems' 3000, 6000, 8000, and 12000 electrical estimating software. While we introduced V8.0 at the NECA Show (October 2004) -- where it won us our 9th "ShowStopper" award! -- we've been tuning the system up, making improvements, and putting final changes in place.
Here are changes we've made only recently: 1. We've updated the program's "look and feel" -- plus, we've enabled YOU, the user, to customize the way the system looks (with user-definable backgrounds, a/k/a "wallpapers"). You spend much of your time with McCormick's software; now, you can make it look the way you want to -- or change it frequently! 2. While V8.0's security enhancements were among our headline changes, we've gone even further in the months since the NECA Show. One example: We've improved the security functions for the Bid Summary, making it virtually impossible for someone to screw up the numbers by mistake (or by intent). 3. We've added Amount and Percent differences between the extended price and the adjusted price for material and labor. What this does is allow you to "fine-tune" the Bid Summary OR see the results of your adjustments: a. If you adjust individual items and make many changes, these columns will show you what your changes have done to the bottom-line bid. b. If you instead would like to take the final bid price and adjust it upward by 5%, you can do this -- simply and easily. We're excited about V8.0. Look for it soon!
"King Copper" -- the price of copper is going to remain high, according to Joe Salimando -- who also edits McCormick's newsletter. Here are links to the two-part opinion piece: Part One. Part Two.
